Recent and future development on ScienceDirect. An overview of usage statistics and author output in Greece

Abstract

This presentation will be divided into two sections: 1. Recent and future development on ScienceDirect. All 2004 changes and improvements on ScienceDirect will be presented. Since January 2004 Elsevier completed its backfile program and launched over 100 book series as well as over 30 reference works/encyclopaedias on ScienceDirect. In addition to content, a number of new functionalities have been released in order to facilitate the work of librarians. These innovations include the ScienceDirect online tutorial as well as holdings coverage reports. A clarification regarding Elsevier archiving policy will be also presented. 2. An overview of usage statistics and author output in Greece Detailed information regarding ScienceDirect usage in Greece will be discussed. This presentation will make comparisons between Greece and other European countries. It will give an overview of ScienceDirect usage for top Greek universities over last three years. Finally we will look at the total number of articles published by Greek authors. We will also examine which fields Greek authors are most publishing in.
