dc.description.abstractDescription of the Evangelismos Hospital Library in Athens, Greece, by a visiting Japanese librarian. The hospital has 1,500 beds, 850 doctors and 750 nurses. The library was established in 1936 and is used by about 70 people each day, primarily medical staff. It holds 810 journals and 5,000 books and is run by 6 qualified staff. There are 86 scientific libraries in Athens and an interlibrary loan system operates. Computers are available for online and CD-ROM searching.en
