A European potential requirements file for Greek: a report on the feasibility study for Project Helen
Abstract
A report produced in 1990 at the University of Bradford Department of Computing funded by the British Library's Research and Development Department. Discusses the availability of automated Greek records, general problems of handling Greek script on computers and Greek character sets (single byte, variable byte abd multiple octet characters sets). Considers problems of mixing scripts, problems of transliteration and the user interface in general. Development of a broad outline for a collaborative plan, known as Project HELEN, to provide a range of information services for libraries in Greece. Difficulties of obtaining machine readable records and combining Greek and Roman script, and issues arising from the existing infrastructure in Greece for the introduction of information technology into libraries. 00 Original abstract--amended.
