Abstract
Paper presented at a course, Standards for the international exchange of bibliographic information, held at the School of Library, Archive and Information Studies, University College London, 3-18 August 1990. Describes a number of CCLs: Euronet-DIANE Common Command Language, the ISO standard for interactive search systems, the NISO Common Command Language. Describes the implementation of CCLs on a number of systems: the gateway service EasyNet, the DoD Gateway Information System operated by the US Defense Technical Information Center, and an i formation service for Greek public access databases operated by the Greek National Documentation Centre. Examines the prospects for increased use of CCLs.
