A Greek epitome of Saint Epiphanius' De gemmis in two Spanish libraries (National Library and El Escortal)
Abstract
In two Hispanic Greek codices, National Library and Monastery of El Escorial, is contained the epitome Toṽ αcombining reversed comma aboveγίου 'Επιφανίου περι ιβ' λίθων accomplished by Anastasius of Sinai and included in its Quaestiones XL. Of the two Hispanic codices, the Escorialensis is the version containing more errors, while the Matritensis is a valuable document which can resolve some of the errors or mistaken readings contained in Migne's edition, which is the only one in existence of this Epitome of Lapidary by Saint Epiphanius of Cyprus.
