| dc.description | Η ίδρυση της μονής χάνεται στο βάθος των αιώνων καθώς δεν υπάρχουν συγκεκριμένα στοιχεία. Οι πρώτες γραπτές μαρτυρίες που συνδέουν το ακρωτήρι με τον Απόστολο Ανδρέα και αναφέρονται στην εκεί ύπαρξη μοναστηριού ανάγονται στον 21ο αιώνα. Η παράδοση θέλει τον ίδιο τον Απόστολο Ανδρέα να έχει περάσει απο το ακρωτήριο της Καρπασίας και θαυματουργικά να δημιουργεί πηγή στον ξηρό βράχο. Η πηγή είναι το σημερινό αγίασμα της μονής. Στο μοναστηριακό χώρο σώζεται γοτθικός ναός ο οποίος χρονολογείται στον 15ο αιώνα. Βρίσκεται σε χαμηλότερο επίπεδο, στα ανατολικά του ιερού του νεότερου ναού που ιδρύθηκε το 1867. It is not known when the monastery was founded as there is not enough data. The first written evidence linking the cape with Apostle Andreas date from the 12th century. Legend has it that Apostle Andreas himself passed from the cape and miraculously created a stream of water in the dry rock. The stream is the current holy water of the monastery. In the monastery area there is a gothic church dating back to the 15th century. It is located at a lower level, to the east of the sanctuary of the modern church which was dounded in 1867. | el_GR |
