The Information Society: advantages and disadvantages

Abstract

Today, information society has transformed various facets of our life such as the fields of business, education and communication just to mention but a few. The impacts of information society are profound. There are numerous books and articles that have been written on this subject; through the available literature, we have been able to understand different theories, and see societies increasing reliance on information society and to distinguish between the resulting benefits and the pitfalls that affect us all. The available literature has been crucial for this paper which sheds light on the advantages and disadvantages of information society, with a careful analysis of each sector’s (business, education etc) pros and cons. In conclusion the paper indicates, there are greater benefits through information society rather than drawbacks to individuals and society alike.
