Engineering can be considered to be the application of scientific knowledge. It is a field where ‘hands-on’ knowledge of equipment is very often considered essential. Feedback Instruments designs, develops, and manufactures engineering training systems that are used within universities and technical training centres. Some of these systems are supported using a web-based training system that presents scientific theory alongside instructive interactive practicals, allowing students to take control of real systems to explore the principles behind hardware that may be found in the real-world. Three training packages used within the Discovery II web-based environment are presented, a basic-electricity and electronics trainer, a telecommunication principles trainer and a series of process control trainers.en
