Outlines the history of libraries in Cyprus from their existence in antiquity, through the Ottoman era to the founding of the Cyprus Library as a municipal library in Nicosia and its subsequent additional designation as a national library in 1987 and sets out its functions and administrative structure. Also gives basic data on Cyprus as a country.
