University of Cyprus Installs Information Navigator
Abstract
The article reports on the first installation of the fully integrated library automation system Information Navigator by IME in Nicosia, Cyprus. The system operates on a UNIX based platform with 16 terminals, 3 of which provide OPAC access in Greek and English. The project was carried out in conjunction with H.S. Data Ltd., a computer and networking solutions supplier. The University of Cyprus current collection comprises 15,000 items and will expand rapidly over the next few years. The number of terminals is expected to increase to 26 with long term projections as high as 60 terminals. The university purchased a complete information Navigator Library Automation System. It is currently using the Cataloging and Retrieval, Circulation Control with barcode readers, and Import modules. The Information Navigator operates in large, medium, and small environments, in both Unix and DOS.
