Through personal visits to selected libraries in Greece, an attempt was made to learn something of Greek attitudes about libraries and librarianship. Describes visits to the Technical Chamber of Greece, the British Council Library, the Gennadius Library, the Athens College Library and the Monastery of St John the Theologian. Concludes that there has been no government mandate to develop or support libraries, there is little philanthropy directed towards libraries and consequently librarians are left to their own devices; some succeed and others don't.en
