dc.description.abstractPresents the results of a study for evaluating the research performance of 2 Greek University departments of mathematics which used elements from the Sussex and Leiden methodologies of constructing and using bibliometric indicators. Comparison of the 2 groups was based on their similarities. The convergence of bibliometric indicators procedure as applied in the Leiden methodology together with a number new bibliometric indicators were used. Results showed that bibliometric indicators if applied properly may give useful information on the research performance and nature of research carried out in university departments.en
