Usage patterns in a Greek academic library catalogue: a follow-up study

Abstract

The article focuses on the study on library searches made by Library of the Alexander Technological Educational Institution in Thessaloniki (ATEI) users in Greece, through its online register for the spring semester of 2007-2008. The study used multivariate and statistical analyses techniques in examining data from transaction logs. The study emphasized the need for research-based education and some areas for improvement in online public access catalogs (OPACs) systems. Results revealed that changes in OPACs and user education programmes in the library has improved users' searching behaviour.
