Information support for scientists and researchers in Greece

Abstract

This paper discusses the most significant activities related to support of Greek scientists and researchers that are taking place due to the funding of the Greek research consortia. A data networks infrastructure is described, as well as information centers, which encompass the National Documentation Center, the Technical Chamber of Greece, the Hellenic Standardization Organization, and the Industrial Property Organization. Library services, including electronic document delivery services, trends in library automation, and research activities, are also discussed. The efforts underway at the University of Crete and the University of Patras are summarized.
